Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Assembly Commission, in relation to departmental and agency events held in Parliament Buildings, (i) what coordination mechanism is in place in preparation for events; (ii) what post-event method of evaluation is used for these events; and (iii) what evaluations have been carried out on events to date this year.
Assembly Commission: For external events held in Parliament Buildings, it is the role of the event organiser, whether a department, public agency or other organisation, to determine the format and content of their event, as well as undertaking activities such as issuing invites. The Assembly Commission’s Events Office leads in ensuring that the necessary practical arrangements identified by the organiser in the booking process are provided.
Following any organiser’s event, the Events Office will invite feedback on the support provided in Parliament Buildings and review this to ensure continued excellence in service provision. However, as the Assembly Commission has no role in determining the purpose or content of an organiser’s event, the Events Office, or other Assembly Commission officials, has no role in evaluating such events.
On occasion, events organised by internal Assembly stakeholders, such as the Speaker or committees, may involve contributions or support from departments or public agencies. The nature of the planning, coordination and evaluation processes will vary depending on the nature of the event and the support provided. However, these are matters for the relevant Assembly stakeholder organising the event and the Assembly Commission has no role in determining the arrangements for these events.
