Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure what steps have been taken by his Department to give effect to the provisions in The Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Act 2022.
Minister for Infrastructure: My Department’s provision for the Act includes longstanding policy guides for both the Irish Language and Ulster Scots. Correspondence received in any language is replied to in that language. On request, forms and documents are translated into any language, including Irish and Ulster Scots.
The Department’s corporate identity is trilingual. This is reflected, for example, on departmental official documents, publications, letter headed paper, the digital platforms; internal and external, signs, vehicles, plant and advertising.
The Department is represented by a senior official on the Languages Strategies Cross Departmental Working.
