AQW 6706/22-27 – The Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Act 2022

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs what steps have been taken by his Department to give effect to the provisions in The Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Act 2022.

Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: The provisions relating to national and cultural identity, the Irish language and the Ulster Scots and the Ulster British Tradition contained within the Identity and Language (Northern Ireland) Act 2022 are not yet in force and require regulations to be made by the Secretary of State, by way of Statutory Instrument. My department is therefore not in a position to give effect to these provisions.
