Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities whether he intends to restore the financial support available to local councils through the Rate Support Grant to the level in place before the collapse of the Executive in February 2022.
Minister for Communities: I will consider the funding for councils, including Rates Support Grant, in the context of my Department’s overall budget priorities, if any further funding becomes available for the current financial year.
My Department has no budget settlement beyond 2023/24. Funding requirements for 2024/25 will be considered against competing priorities and within my overall Departmental budget position once the Executive sets a 2024/25 Budget. I am therefore unable to confirm any funding at this stage for councils for the next financial year.
