Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for the Economy what steps he will take to establish pay parity between further education lecturers and school teachers.
Minister for the Economy: Further Education lecturers’ pay, as well as the terms and conditions of employment, are matters for the Further Education colleges as employers. I am however committed to improving pay for Further Education lecturers.
I am giving full attention to the concerns raised by Further Education lecturers following the announcement of the school teachers’ pay agreement. My officials continue to work closely with Further Education colleges, as, employers, to enable further options regarding a pay offer to be explored within the resources available.
