Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (i) when the schedule of compliance assessment sampling at wastewater treatment works will change from being pre-announced to being unannounced sampling; and (ii) to detail the reason for the delay.
Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: NIEA instructed NI Water to change the operator self-monitoring programme from an “announced” to “unannounced” programme in 2016. NIEA has asked for the “unannounced” sampling regime to be in place for the commencement of the next Price Control Period in 2027. NIEA recognises that significant investment will be required facilitate this change.
