Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Finance whether the full funding package was already secured when the Casement Park procurement process was brought forward by the then Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure on behalf of Ulster GAA. [Priority Written]
Minister of Finance: The Casement Park Project was brought forward as part of the Regional Stadia Programme and Sub-regional Stadia Programme for Soccer – The Executive endorsed plans for three regional stadia (Association Football, Gaelic Games and Rugby) in March 2011.
The Regional and Sub-regional stadia programmes were designated as Flagship Projects by the Executive and as such had the assurance of funding approval. This approval was in place in advance of the procurement process.
