Social Democratic and Labour Party MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has welcomed the inclusion of Kilronan Special School, Magherafelt, in an announcement of capital funding for extension and refurbishment and new build construction projects.
Mr McGlone said, “I welcome the inclusion of Kilronan Special School among the fifteen new build and extension and refurbishment projects for schools to receive capital funding this year.
“The school plays an important role in the lives of young people with severe learning difficulties. It provides a safe and stimulating learning environment where pupils can achieve, feel valued and are respected as individuals.
SDLP Magherafelt Cllr Christine McFlynn added, “The funding will help improve facilities at the school.
“This will ensure that staff can continue to deliver the high level of education and care that the pupils deserve.”
Mr McGlone ended, “We will be seeking clarification from the Minister about the level and timeframe for the funding.
“The SDLP will continue to work closely with the school and the department to ensure building work at the school is completed as quickly as possible.”
