McGlone Condemns Racist Graffiti in Cookstown

Social Democratic and Labour Party MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has condemned the appearance of racist graffiti in Cookstown. The Mid Ulster MLA was speaking after the offensive slogans appeared in the town over the weekend.

Mr McGlone said, “I totally condemn the racist graffiti that has appeared in Cookstown over the weekend.

“These offensive slogans do not reflect the attitudes of the local community and the people I represent.

“Many local people have contacted me to express their anger and revulsion at its appearance.

“Some individuals are clearly attempting to stir up trouble and cause further division within our society.

“We will not allow them to succeed.

“The SDLP has always argued for the unity of the people on the island of Ireland. That unity includes every member of our community.

“Anyone who has any information about the appearance of this offensive graffiti should contact the police immediately.

“Those responsible must be held accountable for their actions.”
