Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, following the Speaker’s Ruling on Assembly Questions on 12 March 2024, and pursuant to AQW 9138/22-27, for an update on the upgrade to the (i) Ballyronan; (ii) Bellaghy; (iii) Derrychrin; (iv) Killygonlan; (v) Pomeroy; and (vi) Stewartstown Wastewater Treatment Works.
Minister for Infrastructure: The upgrade of wastewater treatment works (WwTWs) is an operational matter for NI Water. However, I have sought the requested information from NI Water and have been advised as follows:
the upgrade of Ballyronan WwTW is currently underway, with an expected completion date later this year;
the upgrade of Derrychrin WwTW has been completed and NI Water is awaiting full hand over from the contractor;
the upgrade of Pomeroy WwTW has been completed and NI Water is awaiting full hand over from the contractor; and
(ii), (iv) & (vi)
The upgrades of Bellaghy, Killygonlan and Stewartstown WwTWs are included in NI Water’s Price Control 21 investment programme (2021/22 – 2026/27), agreed with the Utility Regulator. NI Water is working closely with my Department regarding the programming and funding for the delivery of these schemes.
For any future queries relating to operational matters, you should contact NI Water directly, through the Elected Representatives Hotline on 0345 300 6461 or through waterline@niwater.com
Making direct contact with NI Water will ensure that you receive the information in the shortest possible timeframe and make best use of limited public resources.
