Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure (i) for an update on the Graduated Driver Licensing programme; and (ii) to detail the timeline for the full implementation of the programme.
Minister for Infrastructure: The Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 2016 provides the statutory framework for graduated driver licensing. However further subordinate legislation, dedicated funding and significant operational planning activity are required in advance of implementation.
I have asked my officials to seek legal advice which will help me determine the best way forward, once established I will make an announcement.
