Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health to detail the number of children diagnosed with (i) childhood acute lymphocytic leukemia; and (ii) acute myeloid leukemia in each of the last 14 years, broken down by postcode.
Minister of Health: Information on the incidence of childhood Acute Lymphocytic Leukaemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) in N. Ireland is provided by the Northern Ireland Cancer Registry (NICR). 179 children age 0-14 were diagnosed with ALL between 2008 and 2021. 38 children 0 to 14 were diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia between 2006 and 2021.
Table 1 provides a breakdown of children (0-14years) by year with Acute Lymphocytic Leukaemia and Table 2 provides a breakdown of children (0-14years) by year with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Given the small numbers of children each year, to provide a breakdown by cancer type, postcode and by year has the potential to identify the patients and therefore it is not possible to provide this level of breakdown. However, table three provides breakdown of all Leukaemia by Trust of residence at diagnosis and Table 4 of all Leukaemia by Local Government District of residence at diagnosis.
Table 3: – Number of Childhood (Age 0 to 14) ALL & AML cases by Health and Social Care Trust of residence at diagnosis
