Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health to detail (i) the number of people currently awaiting a domiciliary care package; and (ii) the length of time they have been waiting in Mid Ulster, broken down by district area.

Minister of Health: The number of people currently awaiting a domiciliary care package and length of time they have been waiting is listed in the tables below. I have provided this information for the NHSCT and SHSCT which cover the Mid Ulster area. My department collates this data per Trust as opposed to district area within Northern Ireland. This has been separated into those awaiting full packages of care and those awaiting part packages of care and data is in relation to position at 30th September 2024:

My department closely monitor the Trusts’ waiting lists for domiciliary care and regularly meets with Trusts to understand their waiting list pressures. Both Trusts’ waiting list for domiciliary care hours has reduced overall from April this year but there has been a slight increase in September.

The Southern Trust are about to roll out a digital system called Care Line Live which will better enable the Trust to monitor and maximize the capacity of their in-house domiciliary care service which should further reduce their waiting list.

The Northern Trust are currently running a pilot to increase domiciliary care capacity in the rural areas which involves paying a higher rate for rural calls and also enables the Trust to maximise capacity within the independent sector provider rotas that are taking part in this pilot.
