AQW 22143/22-27 – Animals slaughtered due to bovine TB

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to detail the number of animals slaughtered due to bovine TB in each of the last five years.

Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: Departmental records show that compensation has been paid for cattle slaughtered as part of the bovine Tuberculosis (bTB) Programme, in each of the last 5 years, as per the table below:

In relation to non-bovines, there were three sheep slaughtered in 2021/2022, three sheep slaughtered in 2022/2023, and there was also one alpaca slaughtered in 2020/2021 as part of the bTB Programme.
