Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health (i) to detail the number of disabled parking spaces currently available at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children; (ii) how many of these spaces are assigned to disabled staff; and (iii) how many disabled parking spaces have been removed to facilitate the construction of the new Children’s Hospital.
Minister of Health: There are 14 disabled parking spaces available around the perimeter of Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
None of these spaces are assigned to disabled staff.
To accommodate the construction of the New Children’s Hospital, four disabled parking spaces at the Falls Road entrance to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children (RBHSC) have been removed. These spaces were previously decommissioned for the demolition of Bostock House and were reinstated in the summer of 2024.
The Belfast Trust recognises the scale of this project, and the necessary support works will cause significant disruption across the Royal site. The Trust sincerely appreciate the public’s patience as they progress with this important project and are committed to minimising the impact wherever possible.
