Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail (i) the current number of individuals awaiting a medical driving licence assessment; and (ii) the number of medical assessors currently employed to carry out these assessments.
Minister for Infrastructure: 3,808 drivers have had an initial assessment completed by our medical officers and for whom we are awaiting further medical information in order to progress their applications. This may include information from their GPs or consultants, driving assessment reports or reports from our contracted specialist medical advisory service.
There are currently 7 medical assessors employed to carry out these assessments.
