Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the First Minister and deputy First Minister to detail the timescale for the appointment of the language commissioners.
First Minister and deputy First Minister: We were delighted to announce that competitions to recruit: the Director and other members of the Office of Identity and Cultural Expression; the Irish Language Commissioner; and the Commissioner for the Ulster Scots and the Ulster British tradition launched 10th March 2025.
We are committed to making appointments as soon as possible.
The competitions will be run in line with the principles of the Code of Practice for Ministerial Public Appointments, which means that there are additional steps that need to be taken into consideration in terms of governance and accountability.
