Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure what plans she has to improve public transport services in Mid Ulster.
Minister for Infrastructure: My Department provides funding to Translink to provide public transport services and facilities. This means creating a consistent customer experience for everyone, ensuring accessible public transport for people of all ages and abilities, including those in Mid Ulster.
Recognising that Translink services cannot reach every person, I also provide funding to community transport organisations to support the rural Dial-a-Lift and urban Disability Action Transport Scheme transport services for those within our communities who find it difficult or impossible to access mainstream transport services.
I acknowledge that employment and other costs across the community transport sector have risen significantly over the last couple of years. To mitigate against these increases and to protect these vital services, I intend to increase the level of funding available to the community transport operators, that will enable them to deliver these vital services in 2025/26.
