AQW 29236/22-27 – Nutrients Action Programme 2026-2029

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to outline (i) when a full Economic Impact Assessment into the proposed Nutrients Action Programme for 2026-2029 will take place; and (ii) how the Department for the Economy will be involved.

Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: (i) The current public consultation on the proposed Nutrients Action Programme for 2026-2029 will close on 24 July 2025. After the consultation closes, I will set up a timebound stakeholder task and finish group to work collaboratively to propose measures, for my consideration. Following this, I will decide the revised proposed NAP measures which will be subject to an 8-week public consultation period, before any final decisions are made. A draft Economic Impact Assessment will also be consulted on at that stage. After the consultation closes and responses have been considered, a final Economic Impact Assessment will be completed on the final NAP measures.

(ii) If any part of this policy development falls under the remit of another government department, I will ensure they are involved.
