AQW 30431/22-27 – Neurology services in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health to detail any steps being taken to improve access to consultant-led neurology services in the Northern Health and Social Care Trust.

Minister of Health: Every patient should have equal opportunity to access services. My Department is working collaboratively with Health and Social Care Trusts to ensure equity across the region, which includes the Northern HSC Trust. Equity of access is a central theme in both the Elective Care Framework and the Health and Social Care Reset Plan.

Furthermore, the Regional Review of Neurology Services final report sets out a long-term vision for neurology services that are person-centred, joined up, responsive and sustainably resourced.

To support the achievement of this vision, the Review Team identified four priority areas with associated recommendations to drive improvements in services, one of which is addressing gaps in current services. This priority focuses on addressing shortfalls in current services to ensure equity of access to timely, responsive Neurology services.
