Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any plans the Driver and Vehicle Agency has to modify existing (i) services; (ii) facilities; and (iii) staffing arrangements, in Mid Ulster.
Minister for Infrastructure: The Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) has no immediate plans to modify existing services and facilities in the Mid Ulster constituency which is served by Cookstown test centre.
The DVA has recently concluded a recruitment competition to appoint up to 42 new vehicle examiners across their network of test centres. The first cohort of 12 successful candidates has commenced training and is expected to be deployed to test centres, including Cookstown, upon successful completion of their training in early October.
The DVA has invested in two new test centres at Hydebank and Mallusk. They are scheduled to have new vehicle testing equipment installed in 2026, after which the DVA will agree a programme to roll out new vehicle testing equipment across the rest of its test centre network.
