McGlone challenges Long over missing ammunition

SDLP Opposition Justice Spokesperson Patsy McGlone MLA has challenged Minister Naomi Long after 40,000 rounds of ammunition went missing from a PSNI training college in Antrim.

He challenged the Minister to hold an independent inquiry in the Assembly on Monday.

Mid Ulster MLA Patsy McGlone said, “The disappearance of this ammunition and the arrest of a senior police officer in connection with it is extremely concerning. In the wrong hands this ammunition poses a serious risk to the public and it’s important that how this happened is urgently established.

“It’s clear that there needs to be an independent investigation into what happened here and I was disappointed by the Minister’s lukewarm response in the chamber today. Of course the criminal justice process must be allowed to take its course, but it’s clear that significant questions need answered.”
