The group then visited Náiscoil & Gaelscoil Eoghain, where Acting Principal Orlaith McShanlaoich led them to the R2 classroom and Náiscoil. Pupils performed songs through Irish, and staff outlined both the challenges presented by their current setting and their plans for future development.

Patsy McGlone MLA said, “Holy Trinity College has long been a cornerstone of education in Cookstown, and the new school truly represents a first-class environment for learning. The facilities now in place are something the whole area can take real pride in, and the staff, governors and wider school community deserve enormous credit for their dedication in bringing this project to life.

“At Náiscoil & Gaelscoil Eoghain, the warmth and enthusiasm of the children and the richness of the Irish language throughout the school, was a joy to experience. I have been a long-standing supporter of the school and will continue to work alongside them as they address the challenges in their current setting and progress their plans for the future.

“Across both schools, what stood out most was the passion of the staff and the energy of our young people. It is a privilege to support them, and I will continue to do everything I can to back their ambitions for the future.

“It was a pleasure to be joined by our Party Leader Claire Hanna on both visits, and to have the opportunity to show her the fantastic work taking place in our schools across Mid Ulster.”
