SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has congratulated the successful party candidates who were elected to Mid Ulster Council on May 2.
Mr McGlone said, “The SDLP in Mid Ulster had a successful election returning six hard-working councillors to serve their local communities.
“Across the board we saw our first preference vote up in Mid-Ulster by 1,041 votes and came close to securing a new seat in Moyola by a mere 89 votes.
“My congratulations to the successful SDLP candidates, including our new councillor in Cookstown, Kerri Hughes, and my thanks to those who stood but narrowly missed out this time round.
“The dedication and commitment of the SDLP team in Mid Ulster has been rewarded in this election and we thank all those who voted for us.
“As principled and accountable public representatives SDLP councillors in Mid Ulster will continue to work on behalf of their local communities in the Council.
“We look forward to building on this election result and continuing to grow support in the constituency and increase the number of SDLP representatives in all levels of government.”
