SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has welcomed confirmation that the majority of the £12million Roads Recovery Fund will be spent on rural roads. The Infrastructure Minister, the SDLP’s Nichola Mallon, confirmed in a recent Assembly Written Answer to the Mid Ulster MLA that £10miilion of the £12million fund will be directed to rural roads. The Roads Recovery Fund is part of a capital investment of £75million by the Infrastructure Minister in the structural maintenance of the road network in 2020/2021.
Mr McGlone said, “I welcome confirmation from the Infrastructure Minister that the majority of the £12million Roads Recovery Fund will be spent on the rural road network.
“Rural roads provide an important link between communities and sustain the rural economy.
“It is important that the rural road network is constantly maintained and improved when possible.
“There are around 80 locations in Mid Ulster where work is planned or has already been completed under the programme.
