McGlone Welcomes Progress on new-build school at Holy Trinity College

Social Democratic and Labour Party MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone, has welcomed progress on the new-build school at Holy Trinity College, Cookstown. The Mid Ulster MLA was speaking after receiving a written reply to an Assembly question he had asked to the Education Minister.

Mr McGlone said, “I welcome the confirmation of progress on the new-build school at Holy Trinity College, Cookstown.

“The SDLP has made many representations on behalf of the school regarding this new-build project.

“In his response to my recent question in the Assembly, the Education Minister has confirmed that construction bids are currently being assessed for the new-build school at Holy Trinity College.

“It is expected that a contractor will be appointed in the next few months, with work to begin in 2022 for completion in early 2024.

“This follows on from the decision by Mid Ulster Council to approve the plans for the new-build school in July last year.

“As a local school which contributes so much to the community, I am delighted that pupils and staff at Holy Trinity College can see progress towards the delivery of the new school facilities.

“The SDLP will continue to work with the school and the department to ensure its completion as soon as possible.”
