Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities to detail (i) why the decision was made to withdraw funding for the new leisure, health and well-being hub at Gortgonis Centre, Coalisland; and (ii) who was consulted regarding this decision.
Minister for Communities: A decision has not been made to withdraw funding for the Gortgonis Centre in Coalisland as funding for the project was never agreed.
The Gortgonis project has been subject to ongoing discussions between Departmental and Council officials from 2018 however to date the Council have not provided the Department for Communities with a final business case.
The potential to secure funding is being urgently explored and work will continue with the council to progress this much needed project for the area.
