AQW 35420/22-27 – Capacity at the Loup Wastewater Treatment Works

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any measures her Department is taking to increase capacity at the Loup Wastewater Treatment Works.

Minister for Infrastructure: The management of public wastewater infrastructure is an operational matter for NI Water. However, I have sought the requested information from NI Water and have been advised as follows:

During the PC21 period, NI Water plans to undertake enhanced base maintenance work to improve the efficient operation of the works and ensure that the works can comply with the Water Order Consent issued by NIEA.

This programme of work aims to maintain compliance and improve efficiency but will not increase design capacity. Completion of these works, combined with enhanced monitoring, will help NI Water to treat flows up to the current design capacity and gather data to inform any future capital upgrades.

For any future queries relating to operational matters, you should contact NI Water directly, through the Elected Representatives Hotline on 0345 300 6461 or through waterline@niwater.com

Making direct contact with NI Water will ensure that you receive the information in the shortest possible timeframe and make best use of limited public resources.
