SDLP Mid Ulster MLA Patsy McGlone has paid tribute to former Tyrone GAA legend Frank McGuigan following his passing.
Patsy McGlone said, “Frank McGuigan was one of Tyrone’s greatest ever sons, with many accolades to his name. His name has become synonymous with brilliance and pride and a symbol of possibility for his county. His legendary performance in the 1984 Ulster final remains etched into the memory of Irish sports and he inspired countless young people.
“Beyond the sporting greatness was a deeply proud family man and an authentic, grounded figure who never lost touch with his roots in Ardboe. Any time I met Frank, he always stopped to have a good chat, and he was a man who had plenty of time for people. Many people admired him not only for his talent, but for his humanity and resilience.
“On behalf of the SDLP, I want to extend sincere condolences to the entire McGuigan family as well as Frank’s friends, former teammates and the entire Ardboe and Tyrone GAA community.
