Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for the Economy to detail any steps she is taking to support electronic device repair businesses.
Minister for the Economy: Through Invest NI and IntertradeIreland, my Department provides a wide range of advice and support to help businesses start, grow, innovate, export and improve productivity. Electronic device repair businesses may also be eligible for support from Go Succeed, the council led business support service, which offers practical advice and assistance to entrepreneurs and small businesses at startup and early growth stages.
Repair plays a key role in advancing the transition to a more circular economy. It extends the lifespan of products in use, reduces the need for new resources, helps minimise waste, encourages innovation in product design and helps to stimulate local employment opportunities. The Circular Economy Strategy will help support repair businesses, by positioning electronic repair as a core circular process, alongside reuse, refurbishment and remanufacture.
