AQW 46140/22-27 – Electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Mid Ulster

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure to detail any assessment been made of the adequacy of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Mid Ulster.

Minister for Infrastructure: The provision and operation of EV charging infrastructure is a commercially led activity in the North. Responsibility for the maintenance, development and utilisation of charge points rests solely with the Charge Point Operators who are best placed to advise you on the position of their current installations and on their plans to install further charge points within their wider networks.

Local Councils have availed of funding for the installation of charge points from the project, part funded by my Department and WEEV, is set to install up to 250 charge points across the North.

The Irish Government’s ‘Shared Island Sports Club EV Charging Scheme’ will also be delivering EV chargers at 48 sports clubs in the North bringing further charge points to community settings.
