Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to detail any recent assessment he has made of the potential effect of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances on the environment.
Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: DAERA has not undertaken any recent assessment of the potential effects of per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) on the environment. However, the recently published UK PFAS Plan which extends to Northern Ireland, sets out a UK wide commitment to improving understanding of the uses, prevalence and impacts of PFAS across society and within our natural environment.
