Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for the Economy whether her Department has a designated lead or responsible officer on her Department’s use of Artificial Intelligence.
Minister for the Economy: My Department has established governance arrangements for the use of Artificial Intelligence.
The Senior Information Risk Owner is responsible for approving the use of AI within the Department, while the Data Protection Officer provides oversight in relation to the use of AI with departmental data.
Information Asset Owners are responsible for ensuring that AI tools, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, are used appropriately within their respective business areas.
All staff with access to AI tools are required to use them in accordance with relevant departmental policies, guidance and information governance requirements.
