Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): The Minister for Communities to detail any plans his Department has to review the Personal Independence Payment eligibility criteria.
Minister for Communities: During the second reading of the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill in Parliament on 1 July 2025, the UK Government indicated that any future changes to the eligibility conditions for Personal Independence Payment will be subject to the outcome of a review in relation to the assessment criteria.
The UK Government launched the Timms Review of Personal Independence Payment in October 2025. The review is expected to conclude in Autumn 2026 and there are no plans to make any changes before it is completed.
