Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health when the special recognition payment for health workers will be provided to health care professionals in the private sector. [Priority Written]
Minister of Health: Work to deliver this payment to staff in the independent sector has proven to be complex and challenging and we are working with trade unions and representatives of employers to develop a workable payment process. While this has taken longer than for staff working in Health and Social Care Trusts this does not reflect any difference in value of the work done.
I remain committed to ensuring the recognition payment will be paid to the independent sector staff as soon as it is practicable.
