Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Finance, given the recent increase in fuel prices, whether his Department intends to review fuel allowances for public sector workers.
Minister of Finance: The Finance Minister determines the overall parameters for public sector pay policy but not the individual components that make up the overall remuneration package.
The Civil Service here pays mileage allowances for official travel based on the current HMRC-approved rates for non-taxable mileage. The Civil Service will keep fuel prices under review while it is established whether or not current global oil prices represent a long-term trend.
