Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Finance how the Cost of Living support package announced by the Chancellor on 26 May 2022 will be distributed.
Minister of Finance: The package of measures announced by the Chancellor on 26th May included the following financial support: – £650 for those on low income support; £300 for pensioner support; and £150 targeted for those on disability benefits. These payments will be automatically applied through the welfare system.
My department is working with the Treasury to examine ways to provide equivalent support in relation to the £400 Household Energy Bills Support Scheme announcement.
In addition, a Barnett consequential of approximately £14 million will be provided in relation to the extension of the Household Support Fund. The distribution of this funding will require an Executive decision.
