Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to detail the licensed landfill sites in Mid Ulster.
Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: Landfill sites in Northern Ireland are classified either as; hazardous, non-hazardous or inert waste as required under Article 4 of the Landfill Directive.
I can advise that there are five currently authorised landfills in the Mid Ulster Constituency. Details of each are listed below:
Tullyvar landfill, 130 Tullyvar Road, Aughnacloy, is operated by Mid Ulster Distric Council and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council trading as Tullyvar Waste Company. The Operator holds a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit, Reference P0184/07A/V6 that provides for the closure of the landfill to the acceptance of waste in October 2018.
Magheraglass Landfill, Knockaleery Road, Cookstown is operated by Mid Ulster District Council. The Operator holds a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit Reference under reference P0143/06A/V4 to reflect the closure of the installation to the acceptance of waste in May 2019.
Ballymacombs Landfill site, Phase E, Ballymacombs Road, Bellaghy is operated by Mid Ulster District Council. The Operator holds a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit under reference P0336/09A/V2 for the acceptance of a maximum of 25,000 tonnes of non-hazardous wastes annually. However, the installation is not accepting waste at present. Phases A-D of the landfill have previously be filled under Waste Management Licence (WML) 20/01 with some wastes being accepted in Phase E under
this licence.
Ballynagilly Quarry Landfill, Ballynagilly Road, Cookstown is operated by Stanley Bell and Sons Ltd. The Operator holds a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit under reference P0449/14A/V1 for the acceptance of a maximum of 74,999 tonnes of inert wastes annually.
Mountfield Inert Landfill, 89 Barony Road, Mountfield, Omagh is operated by Recyco Ltd. The Operator holds a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit under reference P0557/17A for the acceptance of a maximum of 74,999 tonnes of inert wastes annually.
