Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs to provide an update on the Ammonia Strategy for Northern Ireland.
Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs: My Department has developed a comprehensive Ammonia Strategy which I am currently finalising for publication. The draft Ammonia Strategy will propose a series of farm measures to reduce ammonia, conservation actions to improve the condition of habitats, and a revised operational protocol for the assessment of air pollution effects. The ammonia reduction element of the Ammonia Strategy will build on the significant support provided for low emissions slurry spreading equipment in Tier 1 of the Farm Business Improvement Scheme (FBIS)-Capital.
