Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health to detail the steps he has taken to ensure that any provisions in the proposed new public health bill are compliant with human rights legislation.
Minister of Health: My officials have engaged with and will continue to engage with the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland. A draft Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessment has been completed and published alongside the consultation. Officials will review the impact assessment once the consultation has closed.
A number of human rights and GDPR safeguards and protections will be included in the Bill which are designed to balance health protection and personal freedoms.
