Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any assessment he has made of the benefits of introducing measures to encourage the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil in domestic oil-heating systems.
Minister for Communities: As Minister for the Department for Communities, I have overall responsibility for the Residential Buildings sector chapter within the draft Northern Ireland Climate Action Plan. However, while the chapter contains policies and proposals to reduce emissions within the Residential Buildings sector, many of these fall to other Departments to deliver. The question of assessing the benefits of introducing measures to encourage the use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil in domestic oil-heating systems, would be for the Minister for the Economy to answer, as this falls within her remit.
