AQW 37296/22-27 – Adoption of the Gallion housing estate, Moneymore

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Infrastructure for an update on the adoption of the Gallion housing estate, Moneymore.

Minister for Infrastructure: Officials advise that the Gallion housing development has been taken forward in a series of phases, with phase 1, 2 and 3 which include Gallion Heights, Gallion View and Gallion Way already adopted into the public road network.
Phase 4 and 5 which include Gallion Close and Gallion Drive are currently under construction. I understand that many of the houses are completed, with the roads and footways completed to base course, street lights installed and the development has recently achieved NI Water approval.

The adoption of sites is a developer-led process requiring the developer to submit a request for a preliminary certificate. Until the remaining infrastructure works are completed the responsibility for the site remains with the developer. My officials continue to encourage the developer to complete the works and bring the site to an adoptable standard.

Once the sites are completed to an adoptable standard and a preliminary certificate issued, there will be a 12-month maintenance period before my Department formally adopts the road infrastructure.
