AQW 41820/22-27 – Oral cancer diagnosis

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health, pursuant to AQO 3208/22-27, to detail the number of people diagnosed with oral cancer, in each year from 2015 to date.

Minister of Health: The Northern Ireland Cancer Registry (NICR), based at Queen’s University Belfast and funded by the Public Health Agency (PHA), produces the annual Official Statistics on cancer incidence, prevalence, and survival in Northern Ireland, providing vital evidence to guide decisions about cancer service. Publications by the NICR therefore constitute the authoritative source for oral cancer incidence figures.

The NICR main website is: www.qub.ac.uk/research-centres/nicr/

The most recent validated data available from the NICR covers cancer diagnoses up to and including the year 2022. This is confirmed in the Oral Cancer Official Statistics Report (2025), which specifies the oral cancer incidence annually from 1993 to 2022. This report can be accessed at:
