AQW 44734/22-27 – Men’s mental health services

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Health to detail any steps his Department is taking to support access to men’s mental health services.

Minister of Health: Anyone who is experiencing mental ill health can avail of the complete range of services within the Health and Social Care system on an equal basis. Information on looking after mental health and the support which is available across Northern Ireland can be found at www.mindingyourhead.info. The Minding Your Head website also contains a directory of services of local community and voluntary groups who are available to help with a range of issues.

There are a range of programmes funded under the Protect Life 2 Strategy which target men, and services are tailored to men where possible. The recent Talking Really Helps awareness raising campaign had a particular focus on men. Other programmes with a male focus have been delivered by Rainbow Project, Bangor YMCA and Rural Support. Under the PHA small grants programme 30 men’s emotional health and wellbeing projects were also funded totalling more than £103k during 2025/2026 with over 1200 beneficiaries.
