Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any steps his Department is taking to improve employment rates among blind and visually impaired people.
Minister for Communities: My Department delivers a range of labour market provision to improve employment rates for disabled people and people with health conditions, including those who are blind and visually impaired. This provision includes Access to Work (NI), Workable (NI), the Condition Management Programme, Work Experience Programme, initiatives commissioned under Labour Market Partnerships, and frontline provision delivered via our JBOs.
In addition, both the draft Disability and Work Strategy and the Pathways to Work and Wellbeing Transformation Project will set a long term commitment and approach to supporting more disabled people to find and progress in work.
