Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Education to detail any steps he is taking to ensure that post-primary schools offer a wide range of creative subjects for pupils at GCSE.
Minister of Education: There is a wide range of qualifications, including in creative subjects, approved for teaching in schools in Northern Ireland. These are available both from CCEA (the main awarding body for GCSEs and A levels in Northern Ireland) and from other awarding organisations through the open qualifications market. It is a matter for schools to use the range of qualifications available to make curriculum choices that meet the needs and aspirations of their pupils.
