Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities to detail any steps his Department is taking to increase the take-up of Pension Credit among eligible pensioners.
Minister for Communities: To assist claimants who may be entitled to pension credit, ongoing actions include:
Promotion of Pension Credit uptake through Make the Call advertising; on NIDirect; via social media channels and YouTube;
Continued collaboration with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to issue an annual letter to older Housing Benefit customers encouraging them to check potential entitlement; and
Use of touch points when a person makes their State Pension claim which allow the Pension Centre to identify potential entitlement direct customers to the Pension Credit team to complete an application;
