SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster Patsy McGlone has welcomed the start of work on a new £10.8million construction project at Edendork Primary School. The Mid Ulster MLA attended the sod cutting ceremony at the school site on the 29th April where the first sod was cut by the Education Minister. Work on the new school is due to be completed in September 2027.

Mr McGlone said, “I welcome the start of work on the new-build school for Edendork Primary.

“I have been working with the school, Principal Anne McAlinden, and the Department, for a long time on delivering this project.

“Construction work on the new school is expected to be completed in September 2027 and it will make a huge difference to the pupils and staff.

“The new school will provide an inspiring environment for generations of children on their journey of lifelong learning.

“It is an investment in their future and in this community.

“I will continue to work with the school and the department to ensure the construction of the new-build stays on schedule.”
