Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister of Education whether his Department has used Artificial Intelligence to assist with drafting (i) legislation; and (ii) policy, in the last 12 months.
Minister of Education: In the last 12 months, officials in my department have started to consider how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools might effectively support business needs and procedures in areas such as minute taking, analysing consultation responses and reviewing reports. However, as the use of AI develops, NICS AI Policy – Securing Maximising the Benefits of Artificial Intelligence, requires all outputs from the application of AI, to be reviewed, considered and approved by officials before they are adopted or inform departmental decisions, including in the areas of legislation and policy.
