AQW 45684/22-27 – Potential impact of AI on supporting lower energy consumption

Mr Patsy McGlone (Mid Ulster): To ask the Minister for Communities whether any assessment has been made of the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence on supporting lower energy consumption and access to lower tariffs for low-income households.

Minister for Communities: My Department has not undertaken an assessment of the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on supporting lower energy consumption or access to lower tariffs for low-income households. Any application of AI within the energy market, including areas such as smart metering, energy consumption and tariffs, primarily falls within the remit of the Department for the Economy and the Utility Regulator. My Department will continue to monitor developments in this area as part of its broader work on energy efficiency and fuel poverty.
